Team News: The Danes shocked Holland 1-0 in the opening match of Group B and will aim to do the same to Portugal and seal qualification to the last eight in Euro 2012.
Portugal on the other hand, spearheaded by Cristiano Ronaldo, will look to forget their loss to Germany and get some points on the board. This match is their best chance to do so.
Ronaldo will have to find a way past Michael Silberbauer, who is most likely to mark him like he did in the qualifying games. Simon Poulsen may make way for him. Changing around a successful team otherwise will just complicate things.
Helder Postiga did not have the greatest games of his career against Germany and it will be interesting to see what Paulo Bento does to solve Portugal’s striker problems.
Ricardo Quaresma’s inclusion in the starting line-up may help them… but Ronaldo will need to shift to striker’s position if that happens.
Manager’s take: Denmark coach Morten Olsen said: “We will play against Portugal in the same way we did against the Netherlands. It look luck for us to get where we are today but we enter this match with confidence.”
Paulo Bento, who really needs a win tonight, said: “If anyone has a right to be disappointed with our loss to Germany, it was the Portuguese people. Ronaldo did not miss training today (there were reports of a bust up with between Bento and Ronaldo). He will play against Denmark.”
Match-facts: The only time these two have met in the Euros was in 1996, where they drew 1-1.
Out of the last 12 games against Denmark, Portugal have lost just three and have won seven.
In recent times though, Denmark have won three out of five meetings.
Portugal have never been eliminated in the group stages of a European Championship.
Odds: For every pound on Denmark, you will win four pounds, thirty three pence. If you favour Portugal, then you win one pound ninety pence for every pound. This clearly means Portugal are favourites.
The match will be live on Neo Prime. Kick-off is at 2130 IST. We are also doing live text commentary on the game
